When you defeat enemies, they blink out of existence with a static effect that makes you feel as if you're playing some sort of "Spider-Man in The Matrix" mod. Sub-par graphics, even for 2004 standards. The FMV cutscenes have frame rate issues. Poor animations that the characters repeat over and over again. Poor voice acting, especially Tobey Maguire who sounds as if he wants nothing to do with this game. The story is extremely short, you can beat it in less than 4 hours. Unlike the console versions, you can't swing on the side of buildings, instead, you have to find a swing icon in order to swing. There is a spider pointer on Spider-Man's head which determines which action is made, meaning if there was no action written there, you're not doing anything. Extremely simplistic controls, you move with the W-A-S-D keys, dodge with Spacebar, Right click to jump, and Left click for everything else (attacking, shooting web, etc). None of the game trailers have shown that the PC was going to get a completely different game, a case of false advertising. However, the praise was for the home console versions, the PC version was negatively received. Upon release, the game received positive reviews and is considered one of the best Activision-published Spider-Man games ever by fans.
